Different Types of Makeup

Postby Mallory » Thu Feb 11, 2010 2:19 pm

Hi,
Does anyone know much about the different types of makeup that are available?
Some places offer air-brush makeup and others offer mineral make-up and others offer other different types again. Can anyone give me any idea as to what is best to use on the day of the wedding?
Thanks.

Yes, there are certainly lots of different options available...and it can get pretty confusing.
All kinds of makeup have thier place and none are right or wrong, it all depends on what is right for your skin type and condition and the kind of overall look you are hoping to achieve.
Mineral makeup is becoming very popular for everyday use, its really good for sensitive, allergy prone skin types, as well as nice on normal skin too. There are LOADS of different mineral makeups on the market, so make sure if you do like the idea of mineral you use (or your makeup artist uses) a professional brand. MAC does a stunning mineral range, suitable for professional and personal use, which i love and use quite alot on my brides.
Airbrush is also really beautiful, if you havent had arbrush makeup applied before, its quite an expereince! It is literally sprayed onto the skin with a suerfine air compressor spray gun. The lovely thing about Airbrush is that you can apply as little or as much as you like, and build up the coverage. (this can also be achieved with any kind of makeup though) Airbrush is water resistant and long wearing and gives a really nice overall look and requires mininal touching up. It is better suited to some skin types than others so this is where your makeup trial will come in handy, and work out exactly what kind of product is best suited to your needs.
All makeup wether it is hand applied, airbrushed or mineral can look sensational and last REALLY well, the most important thing is that the skin is prepared properly, with the correct primers and skin care, and professional products suited to your skin type and conditon are applied based on the makeup artists analysis of your skin...
And dont forget,most importantly, you will look gorgeous no matter what application method/product you choose! xxx ;
