REAL BAROSSA VALLEY WEDDING: MEGAN & PETER
An intimate ceremony and reception at Saltram Wine Estate celebrated the marriage of Megan and Peter. Megan was accompanied by her bridesmaid, sister Joanne and bridesmaid, sister Bronwyn. Peter was assisted by best man, brother Philip and groomsman, brother-in-law Philip
Having met in Canberra in 2004 through work associates, in December 2008, after enjoying a white Christmas filled with snow-mobiling and making snowmen at Barrows House in Dorset, Vermont USA, Megan and Peter retired to ‘The Bird’s Nest’ (a gorgeous old converted chook house). Megan had just placed her coat in the cupboard when Peter, holding a tiny black velvet box, asked her to marry him. Peter had been carrying the ring box around, waiting for a ‘special, happy day’ and it was the perfect time! This special moment at The Bird’s Nest, set the theme for their wedding, creating a wonderful lasting impression for all.
Whilst living in Adelaide in 2006-2007, I would visit the Barossa quite often, said Megan. I love the beautiful scenery, the wineries, eateries, Maggie Beers Farm and the old stone buildings. I always thought it would be the perfect place for a wedding. Pete’s family also come from Adelaide, so, we based the wedding around the ‘all denomination’ Old Union Chapel and everything else just fell into place. Saltram Wine Estate was close to the chapel and the ‘Grey Room’ looked like the perfect reception venue for us.
